  • Slosh 20 - what's it like as a casting reel?

Love the slosh30 to bits but it's loaded with 30lb line for the rougher ground. What's the 20 like for casting with lighter line (15-18lb)? (getting some pennies for xmas so figured i'd treat myself)....

Spot on mate, spend a bit time casting with it and getting it set to the way you cast and you'll be able to send a lead a long way with it.

I'd swap my slosh for one anyday, the slosh is cheaper and for the price there a cracking bit of kit, even more so if you can pick a second hand one up

i own a few 20,s from the original to the latest models and their very similar to fish with other than appearence. only use one small block and a touch of rocket fuel and off you go loaded with 18lb f1 there good for some distance aswell, if your capable.

you,re one lucky fella there mate, would love one of those. Got to say I find the spool a bit high for your thumb on the slosh but still cracking reels.

tbh slosh, 7ht, 6500 elite, 525mag are great. As a casting reel my 6500 elite casts the best. As a casting/fishing reel, I think the 525 is the best, but also the most expensive.

as they have a very light graphite spool they cast very well particularly on 20lb line. I like them as they have a larger diameter spool and pick up the line much quicker than a 525 mag, it can mean extra fish when your getting slack liners!

Just be careful though as the spools do pop quite easily if fishing at longe range. If the spool does go its a new spool and sideplate which can be very expensive to repair.

Personally i would pay extra for a saltist, torium or a 525 mag extra - I know when my sloshes finally give up they wont be geting replaced.
