penn 525 mag
i slosh 30 are good reals, ucant go rong wif a penn 525 mag or a 535 gs for pulling cod out of the rough stuff i have both and use them on a 16 foot shakespeare long cast rod if ure a good caster u can whack the gear out in the water even in summer there spot on for spinning and boat fishing

I've got both the slosh and 535 and have to say i rate the slosh better not just because or price but casting seems better and power is just as good. As for better quality build the penn might be made better but i have had a few problems with mine already and never had any problems with me slosh. I know Wallsendo likes the Abu 7000....he likes the way it casts and how smooth it feels (he's not had a slosh 30 yet tho lol)Best shore caught fish:- Pollock 6lb+ Beadnell, 9lb 8oz Cod Blyth Beach

If you wanted to go for a cheaper option you could go for an Okuma Magnetix size 30...prob is it's a large reel and I can't get away with itOoh a new vid!

I've seen too many 525s struggle with decent fish on, on the other hand Slosh30's are like lifting machines comparatively (can't comment on 535s with bigish fish on), My Abu 7000 has never let me down it has mint pulling power their only let down being the drag is rubbish so needs clamping down real tight and the retrieve speed is too low but then that's probably what gives it that winching power.
Also agree with 'The Great Wallsendo' the Okuma MG30, I've seen my MG20 (the substantially smaller one) lift half a tree up the side of Roker Pier! I have every faith they are good lifting machines, but the MG30 really is a big reel.
