  • what kind of fish is this ?

    caught this handsome chap this afternoon but cant find it in any of my books any ideas ?. it looked like a mini monkfish & took a fancy to some lug tipped with squid ,cheers davey

    looks like a bull head or granny fish to me.

      scorpion fish i think.
      caught one off a skeer at whitburn on sunday, thought it was a codling at first.
      should have known better though

        Scorpion or Granny Fish...biggest I've ever caught was over a pound in weight

              just a little tale about granny fish. Many moons ago I fished the Eyemouth Festival and had caught a few decent cod and around half a dozen good granny fish, some must have been nearly 2lb, of course I chucked the granny fish back. Went back to the weigh in to see them being weighed in. Should always read the rules, I would have done quite well if I had kept them.

                Defo Sea Scorpion short spinned, catch loads of them using small hooks on shields pier or lower Tyne.

                    scorpion aka the granny fish,in france they use them in the soup fish thing beao,supposed to be the fish they cant sell and the soup tastes out of this world.wonder what they taste like,anyone fanncy granny fish and chips.
