alot of rights and wrongs in this situation in my opinion.
Regardless of who was there first I think that when the lad is shore fishing the kayak should be well out of his way.
The lad casting the lead at you was totally out of order and I think it would of been best if both of you came to a quick conclusion as to who is fishing where and probably established boundaries without slagging each other off.
Just my opinion anyway ! Glad nobody got hurt

No need really if the yaker was just on his way past is there? I’d have just waited as any reasonable person would have done surely.
Tbh…otherwise, I’d have probably agreed with others and said you were too close in if had just parked yourself within 100 yards of the angler. I’d have thought the same thing, you got the whole sea lol.
In this circumstance however, you were certainly within your rights and I’d be surprised if the coastguard would have not been interested at the time.Best shore catch 2016 - 7.5lb cod, Seaton Carew!

Regardless of who was there first there's no excuse what dove of anyone deliberately trying to injure or kill someone
A flying 6oz weight travelling at speed will almost certainly leave you with more than a severe headache
It would be manslaughter with intent
& technically the rod was used as a weapon
So if he was standing with a rifle aimed at you I'm sure the police would be wanting to be involved
You should have got closer loaded up with a string of mackerel feathers & a 12oz pirk
& cast straight into the ****s face teach him a lesson
Tit for tat!!!
