  • A Beginner's Guide to Sandy Bay...

Just been scanning Richie_Fishy's Sandy Bay report.

Where is the rock mark ("the boulders")? Do you park in the caravan site? And is it a really good mark - worth a look?..

    Any help much appreciated, lads

dunno myself but I'm guessing it's going to be around this area Flash Earth ...satellite and aerial imagery of the Earth in Flash

was wondering about parking too, I've fished the wansbeck estuary and the south side of the mouth of the wansbeck plenty of times. Only been on the north side once many years ago and parked in the car-park there that used to be accessible from the spine road, dunno how you get to that now though or where else you can park.

        sandy bay

Hi mate used to fish sandy bay cliffs years ago, caught plently of decent cod around the 2 to 3 pound mark at high tide.
There are loads of rock marks all around the bottom of the cliffs right the way from the caravan site to the quarry at the newbiggin end.
You can park at the top of the road leading to the caravan site then walk through the site to the left which will bring you to the cliffs ( be careful though because the cliffs have been eroding for years and are liable to go at any time).
The best areas to fish around there are further north at the beacons , a large rock formation just north of church point.

        Hope this helps mal

I think the mark your looking for is at the bottom of the boat ramp lots of granit boulders there, park up in the carpark on the road outside the caravan site walk through the barrier turn left then walk through the site towards the sea its just there roughly go down the ramp the boulders are there. But just like a lot of marks in that area you need a bit Sea running the beach at sandy bay is very flat so the water aint very deep.

caravan rocks is what they call it down there, wonder why just park along the road running into the caravan park and walk through the caravans, there are a couple of ways down but can be very muddy, the ramps the best way. in my mind the area fishes best on a dying northerly following the tide down.
