  • Temperature?

This is probably a silly question but when it's cold like it is now does it affect the feeding of the fish? Do they become sluggish or does it make no difference to them (I know I become sluggish when stood on a beach in freezing temperatures ).

thats a good question mate you should get some interesting replies.
i fish all year round and i cant say ive noticed any difference when its cold, im sure someone will correct me if im wrong here but i think the temperature of the north sea only drops by about four degree's in the winter.

Hard frosts will slow the crabs down, but considering most of our north sea species live up towards the arctic our temperatures should not have any sort of bearing on their feeding.

the air temp hardly affects the sea temp which only canges by about 2 degrees all year.

i recon at around -100 they would struggle , you would struggle to bait up too, so best stay in the house!

touch off topic but have you noticed we older folks use +*F for hot and as soon as it gets to freezing switch to -*C !!!

i dont think it is much of an effect on water or fish

Sea temperature doesn't fluctuate much, I think temperature affects freshwater fishing a lot more than sea fishing bar certain species which follow migratory paths.
