it is quite easy after a bit practice, like anything. been using a pump for about 5 weeks now with good results. i watched the videos and used that as a guide. give it a go and dont throw the towel in too early.
Been using a pump for years with good success rates. Dont go straight on top but at a slieght angle of about 60 degrees. Make my own pumps out of copper tube and tap washers. Its a lot cheaper than buying a pump. Use ordinary washing up liquid a a lubricant.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible,
but P*****g everyone off is a piece of cake.
Bought one on e-bay last season. Tried it out and managed about one in twenty attempts success rate ! However with a lot of perserverance, my rate is now about one in three. Still haven't mastered it fully yet, but getting better all the time. Target only "runnydown" casts and you should get there. The type of sand also makes a difference............loose gravelly type sand is much easier to pump than the hard dry stuff. I always take a fork with me as well, as sometimes the "runnydown" casts are hard to find and I can still dig for smaller lug. Good luck mate...but don't give up; they do take some mastering but they are worth the effort.
