  • Blyth West Pier

Noticed some canny catch reports from the weekend, when I typically forgot to get bait and had nowt in the freezer! Anyone know how it's been fishing during the daytime on the high tide?
Got a days leave tomorrow so fancied popping along for a couple of hours. Though if the sea has flattened off I might give Cullercoats a shot on the south jetty.

My mate has just been down and the sea is massive. Ideal conditions for the pier!

The wooden one is the west pier Jim. Looking at the webcams it looks perfect, best of luck everyone fishing today.

                    Jim.

Yep, it's looking good again - was on the pier yesterday from about 3pm-7.30pm & it was very poor in the flat seas. Only had 2 whiting & a lot of people coming off had had nowt all afternoon.

At least I managed one about 5 1/2 lb on Saturday night from the prom (top of Whitley Beach) which I think is my best of the winter so far.

Yeah - the memory's on it's way out - - seriously though, don't know when I'd say the summer ended & winter began. I've had a couple of others that came close late on in the summer / autumn, although this one wasn't weighed so I can't really say for sure. I do know that it's belly was absolutely stuffed & would have possibly been heavier than my guesstimate.
