I used to use an old Halfords charger, set to 6v and trickle charge overnight. Simply open the top battery cover (guessing it's an Oldham?) and attach the croc-clips to the appropriate terminals.

Keep topped up with distilled water applied with a little plastic bottle with a WD40-type thin plastic tube stuck in the top, squeezed into the fill-holes on the battery. Gary.

they are twin cell battery's so 4.4 V needs about 5 V to charge them at the right rate if my memory serves me right from 6 weeks in the lamp cabin before my apprenticeship started , oh my gawd , 34 years ago !!!!!

6V is a bit high but will do it quickly but with some boiling off of the distilled water so as said keep the batt topped up to the line on the side

i have a small household alarm battery for mine if i ever remember to charge it and use an old mobile phone charger on it that gives out 5.2 v

You can put it on a 6v charge and put the little top light on when charging
up and it will be fine.

It should be fine mate - I always found mine charged fine on 6v & set to low (trickle-charge). Still works fine after over 25 years, but hardly gets used any more since getting the Tiga.

I have an oldham caplamp charger for sale, it is in excellent condition, it can charge 2 cap lamps at a time , you just clip the actual lamp (not the battery) to the charger and it charges through the caplamp lead to the battery, i will post a pic sometime this week, as I,m on 12 hour shifts and am short of time untill the weekend, I,m looking for £35.I was going to post this in items for sale but you may of missed seeing it.

YES MAtEY charge it on the 6 volt one matey ,just keep an eye on it thru the glass ,you can see it bubbling ,they dont need charging all night like some think i used to put mine on for a couple of hours or so ,you get used to how much they need ,i used mine for about 15 year and only gave it away last week ,and when the water gets down you have to top it up ,i used a washing up liquid bottle with plastic pipe on the end ,DISTILLED water ,anyway as long as the lamp goes on it will work ,if theyre left for a month or so with no charge in them they just die matey so always keep a bit chasrge in it ,does it light up now?cos if it doesnt it will prob be goosed ,anyway thats wat i used to do matey 6 volt charger ideal
did eeerrrr ya snap it off like?thats a shame teeeheeeeheeeheeee and take your rubbish home and dont be a meth
