Family airlifted as tide comes in
A family of three and their two dogs had to be airlifted to safety after being cut off by the rising tide at the bottom of cliffs in County Durham.
The couple, and their eleven-month-old baby became stranded against the cliff face while walking in Seaham on Sunday.
Both Sunderland lifeboats were launched but high waves meant they could not reach the family and an RAF helicopter had to be called out from Prestwick.
The walkers and their pets were eventually airlifted to safety.
