  • Another Sonik bites the dust

Been fishing today at Hadston. Went to lift lead off the bottom to reel in and SNAP , so now my 14ft Sonik SK4 is now 13ft 6ins .. Crapola . The top 6ins snapped clean through ! could have understood it if i'd been having a really good riv on but i wasn't . Always stuck up for the SK4s , that'll teach me . Anyway does anyone know of a 5.5mm tip ring that will fit !? . Luckily i had my TT sport with me so could carry on fishing but still ended with a blank . Just one of those days

Sonic are really good if you contact them re the problem. I am sure they will sort you out and are quite local.

Seems like alot of the sea gear is poorly made. Do any of you know how good the carp rods are .. or do they do the same and buckle under the pressure too ??

I know of a fly rod that snapped during casting!!!!
But know a mate who uses the carp rod for pike & he swears he wouldn't use anything but sonik again

This is the only Sonik rod I have used and it has had some stick over the 3 years I have had it. I use it all the time for lure fishing for bass over on the Mull of Galloway.

              I cannot fault it.

                .

I snapped my sk4, Sonik replaced it and I snapped the replacement first session out. They replaced that one too so I sold it. Lovely rod to use imo but cant trust them not to snap under hardly any pressure.

Ive mentioned before in similar threads the qualitys nonexistent! My mates SK3 snapped 8"above the spigot just reelibg in (not pulling through a snag) How many posts have we seen on here of a similar nature regarding how poorly made they are.. Come on Sonic do something about it other than send out cheap replacements!

I have the SKS, the SK3 and a NCT.
So far so good. Might be just luck or it might be that there are sometimes poor blanks supplied to the factory which get through into production.

I throw a weighty 6oz with bait on the NCT even though it's the lighter 5oz version. On the other hand, I see that Dragon Carp are stocking Sonik now, and that can't be good. They tend to do more crap stuff than Steptoe & Son.
Told the missus I was going on a diet. I'd only eat what I caught

I have never had any problems with Sonik rods, always found them reliable.
I had SK4 which I sold when I got Century Excalibur. I still have a Sonik NCT 6oz which I use frequently without problem and a spinning rod.
However, with all these reports there must be some problem, it does not seem to be an isolated case.
Good job their customer service is good.
