  • Mussel Anyone

Anyone suggest where I can buy quality and good size live mussel in the Tyneside Wearside area.
The lad who's supplied me for years has moved on and the places I have tried are selling small stuff which are hardly worth skeining.

    Thanks for any ideas

pick your own mate then you can choose which size suits you best. river blyth has some cracking mussel on the waste pipe also theres a place in the river wear (theres a post about it on here somewhere) only bad thing about getting it your self is shelling it (worst job in the world in my opinion)

I usually get the bigger squid for boat fishing from Joe's - £5 for 3 blocks.
          Cheers, Keith.

Remember when some tackle shops used to get big sacks of fresh mussel from Scotland big stuff with loads of barnacles on it.foxies at seaham used to sell it couple of shovel loads for a quid.
            I them were the days.
Wonder why the tackle shops don't sell it like that anymore sure they would do OK.
