  • Recommend me a rod!

Just looking for ideas at the minute

Of all the rods I've had, I like using my axellerator the most,

Pros - stiff and powerful for casting, strong for hauling fish, thin tip for great bite detection (don't care what people say, my axellerator has better bite detection than any other rod I've used).

Cons - heavy as fook, butt is a bit too thick for holding/using all day.

Among other rods, the stiffest I've had are the tip tornado sport, afaw big beach, afaw clubman plus, afaw six and bait and the mk1 Apollo. All of these rods were too soft for me.

Can anyone recommend a rod with similar length, stiffness, power, action and tip as the axellerator, but about half the weight!

I'm no expert on stiff rods Andy but it sounds like you are describing a P3 there mate.

Thanks for all the replies lads, something to think about. I've thought a few times about a wr300, but I've been put off by the length, I prefer a 13 6 to 13 10.

I'll take u up on the offer sometime chris, looks like a few votes for the p3.

And the zippies mmmm... never had one but I don't think it'll be long before I start delving into that world

Wr300 has a soft tip stiff butt nothing like the rt action, a crest is firm tip with a nice butt, the ss has a firm tip stiffish butt both 13ft10 and the m4 Evo big beach, conoflex Anubis plus all depends what ground you fish, a lot of casters who struggle to compress a rod benefit from a stiff tip with a butt with more give to get the best of there rods. I have a few rods you can try if you like
