lol well yet another comp ill be unable to attend and im sure it will be the same for many others.
2003 the last time i fished a NESA comp due to location. Seems there is a lot of bias towards the north of the region and no thoughts at all towards the people who live in the south of it.

Don't quite see how that works as both this Comp and NvS alternate between North And South...last years winter comp was held South and this years NvS will be south as well...or are you talking about Opens as well?
      Ooh a new vid!

yes but, what you class as south is still very much north for the people down this neck of the woods. Like i stated earlier the most southerly NESA comp has been south sheilds.
        Can you see my point?

It's a fine line to tread to keep all parties happy but that said quite a few of you Seaham lads have made it to both sides of the Tyne before now

Stewart, if I organised a comp on the Peterlee area of the coast would you go to that one??

            Jim.

Stewart !!!! only my mother calls me that, and that's when i'm being told off .....

On a serious note, i am not saying this for my own benefit, i don't fish a lot myself nowadays due to health problems, but i know there are a lot of lads down this neck of the woods who maybe don't have transport and would like to fish a NESA comp.

I'm sure that if there was a one down this region then yes i would make the effort to attend.

I really can't understand your arguement then if you would fish Peterlee area and not from Shields to Sunderland, as it is a bit closer from Seaham to South Shields than it is to Peterlee from Seaham.

As far as being biased to the north of the region goes, I would dispute that strongly as I live in the south of the region myself. It doesn't make a massive difference to me where I fish as the closest place to me is about 25 miles (which is south of the Tyne.

As far as organising comps goes, I have only arranged them where they were before I took over the job. I could also only organise a comp in the areas that I know, as everyone knows it would be impossible to organise a meet if you did not have any idea of the area to be fished.

If you would like to organise a comp that was more in your area then please feel free. There is nothing I would like more than sitting back and enjoying someone else doing the work, then turning up on the night, paying my money and setting off to my mark. Instead of standing around for an hour waiting for people to turn up that have put their names down and simply do not let you know they are not coming lol.

I am not having a go at you mate but it is simply not possible for me to organise a comp in an area that I do not know anything about.

                Jim.

Got to agree with Jim here. There's nothing worse than waiting for competitors or team mates to turn up and ending up being late for the fishing yourself. I know that at the last NvS comp I started 40 minutes after everyone else.
On a more positive note, and appreciating travelling distances and petrol costs, there are a number of websites that hold comps within their areas and so cut down on the travelling. A Seaham meet, open to all, might be an attractive proposition for a number of board members, all you need is someone happy to put in the leg work.

Got a date in mind for the Freindly, but I'll hold back until Jim has finalised details for this one first...

...key point tho made by Jim and Stores is the fact that the organiser invariably puts him/herself out especially if they actually want to fish it themselves...it's not hard to actually administer a mini comp but it's always reliant on goodwill from others and that can be where it falls down.

Jim, go for the dates you pick.

I think one of the reasons the south venue is at South Shields is because no matter how big the sea is you can always find somewhere safe to fish unlike the Durham beaches.
If the sea was too big then the comp would need to be resceduled due the beaches being unfishable and that bwould be a nightmare.

I will make it no matter what time or date, 2am in morning is fine also.
If people think you are an idiot, why speak and remove all doubt !

Thanks for the input lads, much apreciated

I have decided to stay with Saturday 13th Dec, it's a good size tide and not as late as others so I will get all of the info down for the weekend. Lets hope there is plenty of interest and we get some decent seas too

                        Jim.
