hey a dont know whay people take the skin off and take everything out of the middle, thats how they are in the sea and thats how the cod eat then lol, so why change them, its great bait thogh, i like the realy little squid, there only about 4cm but there great for cocktail baits, just put a cupple of them on with a few lug worm and half a crab, great bait

Re-freeze!!!!????? Once it goes pink it's no good, chuck it. As long as the flesh is white it's fine to use. Also, don't clean it out, the guts are an attractor, which is why the supermarket stuff is not as good as frozen uncleaned Calamares. Excellent cod bait on a pennel hook rig. Thread whole squid over bottom book (minus head) then 3 or 4 worm/mussel/whatever you want. Put head on bottom hook then slide the body over the bait and use elastic to wrap the whole thing into a more streamlined parcel. Put top hook in place and you have a great cod bait that leakes juices for a good 20 minutes. 15 minutes on a medium oven, Chilli sauce, georgeous!

i agree with you phantom once it goes pink give it to the gulls,i often use a whole calamari, head ,guts and all on a pennel with no other bait except sometimes another calamari ,cought loads with it.

Aye squid is a great bait, i use the ones from tesco freezer, about £3.50 for a kilo and they are individualy frozen with the heads inside so easy to just take a few out the bag for a session, the whiting love them fished in little thin strips and the cod love em fished whole or as a cocktail. My fav. being mussel wrapped in squid.
