bloody hell m8 you had a close one, be careful as the reality and shock might take a while to set in. Plaesed you poste your experience as it will make everybody more aware, well at least for a while. Hope it dosn't put you off, but I bet you will be more careful, but you can't predict what the sea is going to do. Stay safe.Alan

Glad your ok mate, ive been hit by a few waves although not what i would consider big ones, the power they possess is awesome. Even when your standing in the surf you feel it tugging at your legs, scary stuff man. Like others have said, at least it was only your gear that was lost. I'd also be picking 6 numbers for 2moras lotto aswell your one lucky dude! Joking aside though, its another call for some lifebelts to be installed along Hendon.

talking about bad luck i popped in a shop on the way fishing tonight on hylton road near second hand shops looks out the shop window to see swarms of cop cars round me motor ,a mad knifeman carrying a blade had decided to jump into me passenger seat to seek refuge to hide , cops took him away and searched me tackle etc and all over the car ,cost me 50 mins and was worried about catching the top of the tide ,eventually i was sent on me way after a statement that i never knew the lad ,and i also blanked tonightLast edited by codseeker; 03-10-2008, 09:47 PM.Panel Pin Champ

glad to hear your safe mate, we dont want more flowers on the railings, i have fished all over wales and the west coast, over here is the scariest water i have seen, hopefully some honest soul will hook or find your gear and it will be returned

Pleased your safe and well and writing this mate. Just makes me think twice about where i fish. Like Alan says it is a good reminder for everyone about how savage the sea can be. Once you are in you are very lucky if you get back out and i'm speaking from experience.
Unlucky on the gear though. With a bit of luck you will get some of it back but if not you can always try your house insurance as mine covers me for up to £4000 of stuff away from my home.Best shore caught fish:- Pollock 6lb+ Beadnell, 9lb 8oz Cod Blyth Beach

glad your safe and well scott ,lucky aswell as the north sea holds no prisoners!!!
and for the people who dont know.."pensioners corner" is a very open sea defence wall on the back of the sewage treatment plant and illegal to fish at any time and has many security cameras and frequent security patrols so scott more than likely had to climb barbed wire fences and dodge security cameras to get there so doubt you will ever see your fishing gear again.
just think about where you fish in these heavy sea's its really not worth the gamble there is many more safe places to fish rather than get arrested or risk losing your life !!!Last edited by blackcat; 03-10-2008, 11:12 PM.
