The TTLD, and the TTLD SM will both be spot on though, capable of putting 125g or 150g plus bait a very long way but retaining finesse and excellent bite detection. The C3 LD yes, but not so much as it is more of a 175g rod, pokier and much less finesse in the tip.

I use my M4 GT and TTLD off the 44, both spot on rods for that part of the pier and I've landed some nice double shots of Plaice from range at the 44 with the TTLD...
I didn't say an estuary rod would be suitable for heavy fishing marks, just that if you want a soft ultra sensitive tip then you're more likely going to be after small species in easier marks.

I had the C3LD out yesterday evening at the groin, bottom of the Spiles. Didn't catch owt but the tip was still sensitive enough to show crab plucks.

I also had a Sonik NCT 5oz and found that was giving the same sensitivity but I wouldn't like to haul a good sized cod with kelp all over it from a pier or rock mark. The C3LD would be more up to that.
Told the missus I was going on a diet. I'd only eat what I caught

Used my c3ld in heavy ground all the time and it did fine. 7oz, big bait, easy. The tips by no means a match tip but it showed bites no problem.Through action yes, but a powerful through action. Brilliant all rounder.

Wanting to get a TTLD for the whities etc this winter.

Are they worth it and are they a better rod than the zziplex profile range?

Never used a Profile so can't comment on them but the TTLD is the only Century rod I've kept out of all the ones I've had (CME, CM Crest, TT Sport). It's a lovely fishing rod, very slim but deceptively powerful (I've cast the 150g over 200 yards on the field with mine), forgiving in the cast and decent bite detection. Loves 125g and 150g, will cast the 175 but you need to take it easy and not rush or snatch the cast

Ive decided im getting one like, now to choose between the ld and super ld.

Never tried one but have only heard good things about them.

Next purchase, a big winter rod. Any suggestions, nothing too stiff as i find them pointless

have used one myself and i go along with what bob c and topbana says.

carbon rods probaly better at showing bites at distace i could tell dabs when using a tournament extreme yrs back but for short range fishing bendy tip probaly better.

may be wrong here as been a while since i have seen a ttld but i didnt think these had a fine tip which you could set tip over.
did you know panel pins comes in diff sizes ?
