Hi lads, been offered one in very good condition at a decent price off my dads mate. Was after something in the LD range for summer plaice fishing. Anyone own one and how do you rate them? Thanks

From my point of view it's a pointless rod lol poor bite detection on a rod that is designed for picking up small fish at range, but easy to use and can cast 5oz plus bait a long way, pier fishing it will struggle to lift anything decent but has a bit of back bone.

IMO one of the best all round Rods around and lovely casting Rod. From memory will cast up to 225gm. Cant understand all the remarks about poor bite detection. Have seen Weaver bites on the ones I had and had a 14lb Cod off the Heugh without any bother at all.Last edited by Bob C; 28-08-2014, 09:55 PM.

Oh dear... As I thought... Opinions all different. I had heard the bite detection wasn't great but also know lads who say the bite detection is fine and can pcm up small rattles from dabs etc at range. Gonna take it out for a spin over the weekend and see what I recon. Lol."In order to becomes old and wise, first you must be young and stupid."

Casts so easy with 6oz compact low diameter rod enjoyed using mine great for Smooth hound and thornback fishing were super bite detection isnt a must and the softer through action absorbs the fishes fight. It's not a bad cod rod either but, I've had a couple Fish on in strong tides over mixed ground and it was difficult to bully the fish as the rod just loves to bend and I found Fishing on a windy pier the tip wobbles quiet badly again if targeting bigger that doesn't bother me as the tip would just bang down but for flat fish species I'd want something to see those rattles.Last edited by Davey-m; 28-08-2014, 10:18 PM.

Yea everyone ha there own view on rods each as equal as the other take the pros and cons of people's views and way it up, I live some rods that people hate and they love ones I hate, that's why there is such a wide selection of rods on the market.but I am right non the less........ Just joking before people start going aka

Lol Phil. I had looked at at tippy LD but the offer of the CCC LD so cheap made me think twice. Will give it a whirl and see how it goes."In order to becomes old and wise, first you must be young and stupid."

I did a deal swapping my Kompressor SS for one with a cash balance.
Couldn't bend the SS to cast any distance and immediately picked up an extra 30% with the C3LD.
Yeah, the tip is softer but that's what I expected. Don't know about bite detection for dabs etc. I've had no problem with it in that area.
Those who complain or mention lack of bite detection for smaller fish should maybe address that problem by suggesting a different rod altogether for them such as an estuary rod.
It's 2 different types of fishing. You'd get a problem fishing with a flounder rod and occasionally hooking something big.
So, the C3LD is fine for most shore and pier fishing. I love mine anyway.Told the missus I was going on a diet. I'd only eat what I caught

I use my M4 GT and TTLD off the 44, both spot on rods for that part of the pier and I've landed some nice double shots of Plaice from range at the 44 with the TTLD...CLIP IT AND WHACK IT

The TTLD, and the TTLD SM will both be spot on though, capable of putting 125g or 150g plus bait a very long way but retaining finesse and excellent bite detection. The C3 LD yes, but not so much as it is more of a 175g rod, pokier and much less finesse in the tip.

c3 ld is not a summer rod by any means of the imagination, everyone is physically different and different casting ability so try before you buy, anyone starting fishing with one rod could do worse this rod would take him a long way before a change is needed, I personally don't like them they are exactly what it says on the tin a c curve reminded me of decent rods of the 80's I found for the same effort I could cast a bait a lot further, bite detection was ok, If you had a selection of rod I don't think this would be your first choice to take fishing, just didn't have the feel, if you no what i mean.

Just my opinion. Nice rod but not really what I wanted. Could see it being ideal for a teenager or someone who struggles to put any power ino their casting due to age / injury though as it did sling a lead a decent way with little effortLast edited by Joe-m; 30-08-2014, 10:42 AM.
