  • Advice - Alcudia(Mallorca).

    Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone could give me a little advice.

I'm going on holiday a week on Saturday for 2 weeks to Alcudia. We are staying at the hotel more and it's right on the beach. There was fish everywhere and an old bloke was catching them on bread using the float method.

I was just wondering what size hooks would be suitable and what fish I'm likely to come across?.

    Thanks.

    Alcudia

fished the above 2 places go onto beach turn left follow beach right round to rocks and old ruins locals fish there float method small hooks same hooks you would use for perch and middle of beach small wooden boat landing float small hooks etc bread and sweet corn expect mullet boat landing best in the evening when quiet good luck p.s.seen rays underneath landing in evening.
KEEP AHAD LADS IF THINGS DONT CHANGE THEY WILL STAY THE SAME

Any chance any of you fine gentleman could possibly find me a few ebay links to the hooks I'd need. I'd prefer bubble floats, clear ones that I can open and just add some water too to weight it a bit.

              Cheers lads.

Mate I fished in Palma nova last year. Just so ya know there's a proper tackle shop in magaluf. You can walk to it in about half an hour. There's even a vending machine that sells hooks, shot, floats and fresh rag. I got loads of bites on the rag worm. And caught some bonny little fish.

The plugs are cheap as well. Lots around 5-8 euros.
                All the gear, no idea.

I've fish there a few times fish the canals for mullet and the odd small bass on a small waggler float 6lb line with 4lb flourocarbon hooklength to a size 16 hook with bread,on the beaches fish the wooden jetties before the ferries start using prawn and sardine on size 6 hooks on the bottom and you will pick up some huge greater weavers and pompano as well as small banded bream if you go down to the 16 hooks, you will see huge bass and thornback rays on the bottom they will drive you nuts as they totally ignore anything you put in front of them.
