  • Isle of Arron

Me and the wife are heading up to Arron next week and wondering if anyone knows any decent rock marks?

We are staying in Brodick and a search on the net hasn't brought a lot up apart from the Lamlash no take zone.

    Any help is appreciated.

I assume you mean Isle of Arran.
Its awhile since I have been there but from what I can remember the fishing was good all over.
The roads are good and it is easy to get round the isle without problem, you may have to walk to get to the shore in some places.
Brodick bay, hired a rowing boat caught cod and ling in the bay, the ling was about 10lbs. the north side of the bay on the rocks caught a lot of Wrasse using limpets off the rocks.
At Lochranza there is a jetty and you can see the Pollack swimming around the jetty, some are quite large. Good float or lure fishing.
Lamlash bay there is a variety of fish.
Mackeral every where when I was there.

Post a report when you get back to let us know how you get on.
    Regards

Thank you for sharing your experience of fishing on Isle of Arron.

I like the idea of hiring a rowing boat from Brodick and catching a few better fish in the bay.

I will post a catch report next week, good or bad!

Any more help would be apriceated :questi

It was quite some time ago i fished there, fished a small jetty at Corrie, had plenty of fish however nothing bigger than 4lb which was a monster when i was a lad.
If people think you are an idiot, why speak and remove all doubt !

Not sure how long ago "BillQuay" is talking about, but I'm afraid there are no boats to hire for fishing in Brodick Bay anymore and as for Cod and 10lb Ling.............................................. .well??

Lamlash is not only a no take zone, it is a no fishing zone, so be aware.

Rock fishing - well there are some flat red rocks at the far end of Whiting Bay, a small stone jetty at Corrie and rock marks at Blackwaterfoot. Maybe worth a go, if you don't mind poor returns.

You will not find bait in any shop, so take spinners, jellies etc and hope for some fresh Mackerel.

Arran is a wonderful Island, especially if the weather is good and I am sure you will love it, but don't expect too much on the fishing front.
