Some places you can dig and some you can't most places have a sign saying no bait digging but most beaches you can dig for worm tho

no one owns any worms anywhere, though there's one or 2 out there that think they do

if there's worm on the beach and no signs/local byelaws saying no bait digging, then get yer fork out and get some dug

When i was a lad i used to dig rag down by the Middleton Pier at Hartlepool. That was over 35 years ago.
I returned to fishing couple off year back. I have dug some rag down in the fish sands by the Pilot Pier but to be honest for me its easier just to buy it.
I,m 47 now and have a bit more money in my pocket.
Saying that i still see some old boys down in the fish sands digging up some nice rag.

Depending on where you go in Scotland it might be worth digging while you're up there - some parts are lifting with worm with little pressure from commercial diggers. If you do have a go and there are other diggers there maybe introduce yourself and explain you're just after a few for your holiday trip. Make sure you back fill your holes! If you get lucky you will pull out worms the like of which you'll never see down here (often)
