Hello all,
After reading "Seanyroos" recent post about his bad luck with his freezer packing in I thought that some of you may be interested in the Thermometer Alarm that I fitted to my bait fridge/freezer after a similar mishap. I left my freezer door slightly open after cramming my bait flask in one night and it was several days later when I noticed the mess on the garage floor!
Most of our bait fridges and freezers are old secondhand household jobs that are possibly past their best and are prone to failure so I've fitted this alarm unit to mine.
It cost about 16 quid and has two temperature alarms, one for the fridge and one for the freezer. You can preset the temperature limits and the alarm is loud enough for me to hear when I'm in the kitchen next to my garage.
I had to drill two small holes to get the sensors through and when the sensors were in position I plugged them with silicone sealant. You could pass the wires through the door seals. If you drill holes be carefull to miss any internal parts or wiring. See here.
I got it online from Electronic Temperature Instruments Ltd and they do other alarms and single units that are cheaper. Thermometer Sales and thermometer manufacturers - ETI thermometer shop
Regards Ian
