  • rod tip lights ,whats best ?

i have been using the mini glow sticks but have seen lads using battery types , what does everyone prefer & if battery if best what make would you recommend ? many thanks davey

I have both but always just tape a glow stick on mate. Cheap as chips and last all night. I've seen the lads i fish with use the battery 1's and lost them casting out. Also i was sorting my tackle box out after a few sessions and my battery 1's were ruined by some water that had got on them along with the spare batteries.

i prefer the mini tip lights ,i find the battery ones a bit too heavy on your rod tip when there is a good blow on [ but i would like to know what the best mini tip lights are ]

I prefer the battery type as its much easier to pick it out if your away from your rod for some reason, however i do find that after a long night sesh, when you do close your eyes to go to kip you still see the light if you know what i mean!

Im another for snaplights but i use glow bugs holders for them rather than taping them on for each session.

Stick with a wrap of quality reflective tape there are some very good tapes available.
Why? if you're unfortunate and snag the tip light with your leader there's a very good chance you'll be saying goodbye to 4 inches of rod tip.

Keep an eye out for the Aldi fishing tackle sales. They sell boxes of the chemical lights cheap.

I prefer battery ones, I use 'THE TIP LIGHT MK4' batteries last ages and ages and as Jamie said you can see it from a mile off if you're double patting or answering a call of nature. At the end of the day though it's down to personal choice.

glow bugs for me, the skinny ones with the red LED - they always seem to switch themselves on in your tackle box though and run out of juice

I like the glow bugs, the holders what you get with them come in handy as well if you're glow bug runs out, then you can fit a starlite/snap chemical light into the holder.

i agree with sean ive used a mark 3 or 4 for years never let me down yet most people i meet on the beach have the tip light mount on the wrong way round and ask why mine is taking a cast durrrrrrr work it out
i always carry a spare and a pack of starlights just in case tho

for the tip light mounting i just whip it on with normal sowing cotton and add a drop of super glue bobs your mums brother

                            never moved yet
