Interesting Post.
Hello all,
It's been interesting reading this post and the different views that people have regarding their favourite baits. I'm especially surprised at the differing opinions regarding crab.
I thought I'd share my opinion, for what it's worth!
Frozen crab, usually cocktailed with lug, is my main winter bait and I use it right the way through the season and I've took many good fish and bags through the Christmas period and well into the New Year. In my opinion there are few fish that will turn their nose up at a smelly crab bait, especially in coloured water. I also like mussel and I think that it's a very underated bait especially over heavy ground.
I think a lot may depend on where you fish also, for instance over cleaner ground and beaches plain worm baits come into their own and a couple of juicy yellowtails are hard to beat and can be cast a canny distance if this is required. Also in the Tyne frozen crab are the top bait.
I have also re-frozen crabs that I have allowed to defrost and have caught fish on them.
Like I say though these are only my opinions and I hope that they have been of interest or help.
Regards Ian.

We've just had a nigh on 24 hr power cut in East Herrington - lads outside refixing the work they didn't do properly last time said we'd be up for £50 compo from the leccky board for out ruined in the freezer, anything else has to be claimed on household insurance - what's the craic with that like"I mock thee not, though I by thee am mockéd.
Thou call'st me madman, but I call thee blockhead"

bad craic that like.
people wont be getting ripped off as you tell them what the score with the bait is before they buy it. and im sure as ive said before at a discounted price someone will buy it.
if you lost £1000 worth of bait (not lost it as it will still work but not as good as it should) you wouldnt try and get some money back off it. i know for a fact there are alot of people posting in here who will have ripped someone off somewhere down the line. good old saying (what you dont want someone might have)

Just been in the garage to put some tools away and stepped in a puddle a few feet away from my freezer!!! I went to open the door with the hope that something had been spilled but when i saw the blood from the joints of meat running down my worst fears were realised On top of all that meat was around 300 frozen peeler that i've been building up and a load of blacks, squid and mussel plus loads more. I'm full of flu and now i'm ready to cryLast edited by greggthe1; 30-07-2009, 09:13 PM.Best shore caught fish:- Pollock 6lb+ Beadnell, 9lb 8oz Cod Blyth Beach
