  • Blue Swimming Crabs

There is an online bait retailer currently selling frozen peeler blue swimming crab. Just wondering if anyone tried it and how did you rate it?

Good price for size of crab I thought and might be good to bulk out locally sourced crab

    Cheers

Steer clear mate, they were brought in more for human consumption rather then fishing (tempura battered soft crabs) so they dont make a good bait. Although tackle/bait dealers will tell you otherwise.

Used these with on a two hook rig when they first became available with runny downs on the top hook. Fish were hammering the hell out of the runny down and not even touching the crab on the bottom. Didn't rate them one bit.
