  • Slosh brake blocks

    had a bit time on my hands yesterday while it was raining so i stripped down my Sl20 and give it a bit of a clean, was just sitting here at work thinking about casting,,, as you do ,, and i dont remember seeing any break blocks in my slosh!! anyone got any pictures or owt so i can see what the look like ? tried googling it but cant find owt.

            thats where they go mate there is also white blocks you can use not sure if its for faster or slower when casting

              theres neither on, i thought that was where they were ment to be like, am controling the reel with the centrif brake bit its very sensitive, might have to try and source some brake blocks for it so i can let the centrif off a bit and just leave it alone

                You shouldn't use the end cap to adjust spool speed as it will damage your bearings. It needs to be slackened off so that there is a slight bit of play in the spool, just enough so you can move it side to side slightly.

                As for brake blocks, get a biro pen and cut a couple of 3mm lengths out of the ink tube and put them on the brake spindle, works a treat and stops many burned thumbs!

                    I have one that came supplied with 2 sets of blocks (black and red) but it was a while ago

                    The pen refill sounds a good idea cos you can cut them to the size that suits your casting style

                      the blocks look like about 2 milimeters of the inside of a pen refill same clear colur too rutherfods sell them 1 pound a pair hope that helps mate

                        phill just be a man and take the burnt thumb i had to the other day burnt that much it melted my line lol bloody penn mags lol too damn fast

                              just bought a sl30sh this afternoon and it has come with red and white blocks the lad in frazers said to put the white ones first then the red ones . when the rain stops I will go for a few chucks and have a fiddle with them and let you all know how the results
