  • Spinning Marks Blyth to Tynemouth

    Hi lads

New to sea fishing, new to the forum. Nice to meet you all. Was hoping for a few clues on good spots for spinning along the coast from Blyth to Tynemouth. Not after anyone's secret bass marks though , just after a few pollock and wrasse etc. Not even bothered if they're only small, just want to get catching - got a little lad and want to keep his interest!

Had some luck with bait off St Mary's but it has been plagued with seals and divers every time I've returned. Whitley pipe always seems to have someone on by the time I get there but I intend to give it a go at some point.

Tried the back of the Kings Arms and the Sumps at Seaton Sluice on a flooding tide but no joy even though I thought they looked like good spots.

I had a quick recce and thought that the scarrs to the left of Cullercoats harbour looked worth a chuck, and there's a point beneath the Hartley caravan park that looked worth investigating if I can get down / round to it. Do these sound worthwhile? If not, any hints?

I'm fishing with jelly lures mainly, tried dexter wedges etc but just ended up losing loads of gear. The jellies slip right through the weed no bother and I've not had any losses yet. If jellies aren't likely to be any good I'm open to other suggestions.

    Cheers!

Hello mate, the old pier foundations at tynemouth pier is worth a shot, next place would be whitley pipe, then st marys island and the front of hartley island, all low water shots with the exception of st marys where you can fish either side of high water as well.

Hope this is of some help mate.
    Regards Nicky.

Hi both, thanks for your responses - glad to see I'm thinking about the right sorts of spots. Think I'll make the pipe a priority.

Are the old foundations for Tynemouth pier the flat concrete parts along the north side of the existing pier, towards the end? I'll have to head down at some point for a better look, couldn't see much on Google maps.

        Cheers lads!

be careful on this mark as as the cruise ships make a bit of a backwash and can swamp the platform, best fish it in daylight to get your bearings, but can be good for some big Pollock and cod. davy.
