  • Creditability destroyed

The north easts top sea angling correspondant had his credibility destroyed today, when he was caught fishing in the fish quay gut for crabs with his six year old grandson. His excuse was, his garndson had bought the handline and small bait bag which was attached on a trip the day before with his mother and partner at Whitby for £1 and wanted to try it out. Total catch twenty two massive doggers.

and in daylight hours ,i always thought this sort of thing was done in darkness ,well so Sless told me anyways

seriously though ,nice to see old fashioned values are still alive and kicking ,i cannot wait to take one of mine out fishing ,probs the youngest ,as she seems more brave than the Biggin ,i might take them along Shields pier tommorow, not to fish but to get them accustomed to how far they will have to walk ,while carrying my gear

One of my bairns picked up a stick one time, found some scrap line someone had dumped on the ground and proceeded to make himself a fishing pole. Kept him busy for hours at the Wansbeck estuary catching crabs with a bit of minging old squid tied to the line as bait

Greatest thing in the world is crabbing...my Grandad used to take me down to Mudeford Quay in Christchurch where I'd spend hours and hours pulling them out and chucking 'em back

Good on you Alan - you're nurturing an Angler for the future (someone who can keep you in Macky no doubt)
