  • West tarbet Mull of Galloway

Just got back from the Mull. Disappointing to say the least based on two factors, tides and seals. However managed a nice 2.5 wrasse and a 1.5lb Pollock (baited). Set up with 1 bait rod and 1 spinning rod. Weather was hit and miss, moved around the Tarbet to the south and north side with little success and none at all at times. There was some good points of the trip which is the locals, met some cracking lads from Kirkcudbright who were there working (dry stone walling) and fishing. Lads said that there had been very little caught on the West/East side. Anyhow did manage to brush up on some Pendulum casting with big Jim (Seery) ex 2 Parra. So as you can imagine we had plenty to talk about over a cigar and a few whiskey's and tucking into Jim's curry whilst watching the logs burn. The scenery was also a big bonus and stopped off at Terally bay, luce Bay.

Hi Paul, heard it hasn't been that good over there this year. Me and Stevie had a great night spinning at West Tarbet, mainly small stuff but then nearly fell in the fire hammered. Just about wrote Vicki's car off stuffing it with firewood haha.

Remember when this woke a few sleepy heads up at Terrally

My eyes would be bulging like Marty Feldmans if I saw that coming out the water. The fish is good looking though.
A bad days fishing is better than a good day at work.

Yes Peter nice trip mate. I kept thinking of popping over to PortPatrick there was some good species caught. Your right about the logs my eyes were streaming and my cloths smelt of an Arbroath smokie.

When a mark gets hammered day in,day out all summer what do you expect.
If anglers got themselves an Ordnance survey map of the area and looked for other marks they would catch a lot more fish.
The Mull is crap compaired to other marks in the area and the rest of the Solway.

Could possibly be right on that one, the seals did not help matters also the lads working down there for 4 weeks now said fishing was poor West and East.
Got to do a recce next time and also local knowledge beforehand is essential.
