Well with both our summer schools over, Lynn and I have two free weeks left before work begins again and I was hoping to persuade her to go back for a few days to the North East. However we bumped into an old CalMac colleague of mine last week and he very kindly offered us the use of his newly acquired "But n Ben" near Tighnabruaich, Kyles of Bute. So no chance of us driving 200 miles to the NE! 
Oh well, it is a lovely part of the world and will give me an opportunity to try out my new Berkley cherry wood rod. I have a wee mark I remember as a youngster which produced Pollock, but being 30 plus years ago I suspect it may now be barren, but will give it a go
. Also we will of course fish for Mackerel off the beautiful pier there and hopefully get a few for our smoker!
