I wouldn't recommend you put silicone spray on your rods to shine them up as its a nightmare if you ever need it rebuilt or even get guides replaced if they break.

That's good advice fellah,never thought of thatnorm use furniture polish or I like carpride from £ shop (spray wax)prob silicone basedcheers for the tip

I just hoy mine in the corner until I'm out next, if I'm feeling energetic I might take the reels off...

Sounds like ourkid stuthrows his multi's in his sand ridden box for weeks on end

Same as me then once a year take them apart clean and oil, if I have been in the beach they might get a soak in the sink

Haha my biggest pain is rod bags I hate them how anyone can use them is beyond me.

I apply a lashing of gentlemans hockle to mine on assembly , its free and comes in many colours .

This is the only "coating" I apply and I do it every time I fish.....so about 10 times a year.

One of the rods I use has seen a lot of wear and "leans" forward, when at rest, like a heron, ready to pillage my pool. I look on it as being a bit closer to the codling crouch lol.
