When I was going down the pier on Friday the netters were out just near the toilet block and I watched them pulling out quite a few big Salmon. So I fished the toilet block platform for about half an hour with a spinner and never got a touch even though one jumped about 10 feet in front of me. Does anyone know if these Salmon can be caught on rod and line in the sea ? I never here of any being caught but the boats are netting them right next to the pier

Sea trout etc will fall to lures every summer by lads targeting the bass or maccy. They aren't that thick on the ground so won't get taken very often but some lads actively target sea trout from the beaches etc so it can be done..."In order to becomes old and wise, first you must be young and stupid."

I do believe that Salmon and Sea trout hang around there untill it rains and then they start to run up the river to spawn because the rain creates more oxygen in the water also they do not feed during that time, they take odd lures and fly because the are angry that there territory is being invaded, they jump to clean them selfs of sea lice.In order to become "old & wise", you must first be young & stupid.

the thing with salmon & sea trout is they swim high up in the water hence the nets are not fish that deep around 10 - 15ft. i have had a few nice seatrout off blyth pier fishing 4 macky but when it is rough, the macky go off but ya spinners dont get down in the water like they would when flat.
