Although this is a point aimed at Seaham pier it probably stretches to other piers/breakwaters too.
Having been on the pier a few times over the last fortnight or so it's apparent that the sudden surge of macky bashers are leaving a trail of devastation behind them.
The pier is littered with massive amounts of ****e, discarded line strewn all over the place often in huge bird nest bundles. The empty packets, the odd hook still on line and even bits of rag for wiping hands on are left when the owner buggers off home.
I've picked up 3 huge bundles of line and some hook lengths and thrown them in the bin on the car park as they are just too dangerous to leave lying around.
Apart form the obvious implications of the potential damage to birds getting fouled in it all, can you imagine how you'd feel if your kid tripped on a bundle of discarded line and went overboard. IT'S BLOODY SCANDALOUS.
Kicking it all into the sea doesn't do us any favours either as there's enough ****e in it already and we all know how often we lose tackle when we can feel some stretch from already discarded, snagged line.
For the sake of everyone's safety take it home with you.
