It was too gusty today for a session in my kayak so I ventured along the pier for a shot at the mackerel. On my way up the pier I stopped for a quick chin wag with Barnacle Bill and Two Rods. They were near the 44 and had been pulling in the odd cod. However, an hour and 14 mackerel later I soon realised that the end of the pier was not for the faint hearted. In line with the glut of fish on offer to anyone who can cast a trace of daylights, there also seemed to be a glut of lager drinkers who appeared like they couldn't cast at all! If any fancies a shot at the end in future I could lend them a spare motorcycle helmet, LOL

Hi Trev, I thought about venturing up to the southeast corner but cowardice being the better part of valour I decided to stay around the 44 mark with Barnicle Bill and Graham(2 rods) Iwould,nt like a lead getting wrapped round my neck!!!
Roll on October and they,re all gone (thats all the tinsel tossers) and we,re back to bait fishing.

Was fishing near those idiots on the end myself, special brew joints and lines of coke, waste of space, had atleast 100-200 mackerel all bagged up at the side of the pier too they chucked most them away, and gave a few lads some too heavy to carry apparently ....You know, a long time ago being crazy meant something. Nowadays everybody's crazy.”
