  • Spinning with rubber worms

    Hi All

What rigs would people suggest for spinning with rubber worms from the shore? I fancy giving it a go for some pollack from some rock marks round my way. I was thinking along the lines of a small lead with trace behind with worm/hook on end, but would this tangle loads?

    Cheers

you can do it the way you suggest with a jelly worm on the end and a drilled bullet set 2 to 3 feet back, however i much prefer using lead heads (hooks specially designed for jelly worms where the hook has a small lead weight built onto the shaft of the hook), very effective and cast much greater distances than the first method !

You can get streamlined leads that thread onto your line. don\'t know what the proper name for them is though, I normally point at them and grunt if I want a few.

Yes macky you can still get those spiral ones just bought some last week fromm Scotts of Whitley Bay, they are excellent for this type of work.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Spiral Leads are called WYE leads. ( Ithink). You can buy oval drilled leads, and either spray with car enamel or hot powder dip them . I know abroad you can buy what they call worm leads, which are bullet shaped, and drilled to sit at the head of the worm. dont forget swivels or youll end up with severe line twist/
            Good luck

I use a couple of different methods. either a boom about 8\" long, 2 to 3oz sinler hanging of the boom and 5 or 6 foot trace to me jelly or slide a drilled bulled on your line, tie a swivel on and then the trace to your jelly from the other end of the swivel
