    ive fished here in winter plenty of times but never this time of year,is it any good,might go down this afternoon with crab and muscle.like crawlys and st marys but fancy a change,im 5 mins up road and want somewhere near

    Best off fishing the north side of the harbour on one of the skeers (or either crab hills)

      the skeers round cullercoats and whitley bay,have been throwing out 3 and 4lbs cod out regular since june in club comps in daylight and pleasure,had two 3lb cod on whitley pipe on Thursday 12.00 to 3.00,and the lads spinning for macky were getting cod round the1lb to 1.4.0. the same day lads were getting decent cod of north crab hill. the warriers also decent cod. davy.

        was I in the right spot,you can see my car parked at the top of the steps,i came down skeer with the pipe on then went a little left,started chucking towards the end of crab hill then moved to the front and cast straight out.only got a rockling

            im going for another chuck here tomorrow afternoon,in the two pics ,I fished the skeer on the left down from where the people are sitting on the cliff.ive just took these pics and the skeer on the right side of the second pic with the big gully to the right,is this one woth fishing this time of year and do I chuck more or less straight out to see inline with the gully ?

              warriers, marys, nancys,then goatsy. all will throw a summer cod, you would have been better off fishing whitley pipe for cod Pollock macky,coalys,and wrasse all caught this week with the chance of a doggy peter. davy.

                thanks davy,might try the pipe tomorrow afternoon,there was a few spinning on there yesterday though

                  is it any good using the float gear on the pipe or do you need to big a cast

                    float spin, you don't need a massive chuck I was 60,80 yds lads been on there all weekwith plenty of variety,you don't have to go right to the end 3/4 of the way up and you can float spin or bottom fish and leave the end to the spinner lads davy.

                      davy might try goatsy tomorrow ,do I just go to end of skeer and blast it out a touch to the right so id be inline with the big gully ?

                        yes that's it,but avery short lob into the middle about 10yds sometimes picks up a 5 or 6lb fish looking for crabs. davy.
