Well decided to have a jaunt further a field and see if the reports that Ive read with envy at times where as good as they were made out to be.
Set off Friday with almost child like anticipation of what we may catch and made the three and a half hour journey down past holderness...
Got there at low water to see the sea nice and flat with plenty colour in the water ..set up and waited ..... and waited and waited lol then as we had read in various posts as the light got dim and tide started to push in seen the line on gav's rod had went slack !! wound in and nowt, well maybe weed.. only to find this fella on the end when he got it close in.
Excited baited up again and wellied it out but nowt ..darkness set in had a bit craic with a few of the local anglers..then again a slack line bite on gavs ..nowt on mine again lol...wound in and found this little fella on the end
Baited up again and cast at range tide was in mid flow and it just went mental!! lol.. with gav hitting them every cast
Smoothies started to give a good account of them selves pulling him all over the place
Then it was my turn and in true north east style ..managed a codling ..of about 5lbs
Went quiet for an hour or so with gav managing a doggie on fish bait
Gavs rod went again ..much better stamp of smoothie this time and fought hard all the way in just managed to get it to the shore when it straightened his hook!! an easy doubler tried frantically to catch it but away it went!!
But what a night ..only the one codling for me but what a night gav had landing five and a doggie in total the biggest just over 9lb but lost a lovely one at his feet!!well worth the trip down and certainly lived up to its expectations ..fresh crab doing the business for gav probably a bit further in the cast as well
All fish returned safely!!
Got weeded up a bit about mid tide which became a bit of a nightmare but look forward to the next jaunt down there!! ..would like to say thanks to those that gave good info ..many many thanks ..you know who you are very much appreciated !!!
