Sonik. Is it me or are they crap!!

Tony, you can have a look at my Fladen Maxximus when you come to sort the fireplace. Great rods, only ever seen one snap and that had a geet big dolphin attached to the other end.

They're crap mate! My mates sk3 snapped just reeling in (not pulling through a snag either) Also after mentioning it to other anglers on my travels heard lots of similar stories of rods splitting, snapping..

Not only are they terrible quality they are dangerous to use surely health and safety should be involved.

I have one of the original sk4 and never had any problems with it had it from new and used it on rough ground st abbs etc and also mixed ground handle it no bother

Awfull rods,made on the cheap,well known for snapping/splitting,
Supposed to be made in the same factory as grey's,tfg so that alone say's it all

Never used any of their shore or boat rods but I've owned a 10ft sk3 spinning rod for about 5yrs now and lifted loads of mackerel up the side of the pier on my float gear without any problems, I've also had 3x 10lb, 1x 12lb and a 17lb salmon on it

Had no probs at all wi mine lifted my p.b. 3.6lb coalfish and my 6-7lb thornback aswell as casting 6oz leads very hard.......they do sound hitty missy but I must just be lucky!!. Having said that my next sesh will no doubt see the rod magically turn into a travel rod ie 4 sections lol

Iv got a sk4, bought it secondhand a couple of years ago and fish over rough ground with it and its been no bother at all and taken everything iv thrown at it and im not very sympathetic towards it when i get snagged up. Thought it was only sk3's that snapped, so think myself very lucky .

I used a Sonik SK4 for 2 years without problem, it was an excellent rod for the price. If anything it was too stiff and heavy.
I now use a Century Excalibur C curve which is far superior but more expensive.
I also have a Sonik NCT 6oz beach caster and a spinning rod , both are excellent light rods and I have had no problems whatsoever.

I too have also heard horror stories about Sonik rods, can only assume it is their new rods.

I've got a 9' sk3 spinning rod which snapped a foot from the tip first time I used it with no splintering just a clean break
Sonik replaced it and it's been fine for the last year so seems very hitty missy

I've a original sk3 heavy ground and have never had a problem with it , I cut 6 inches off the butt as it was a bit tip heavy but have pulled threw kelp , out of snags and hauled a ball of line with 6 sinkers and traces in and lifted the lot , had it for a few years and I've never had a newer model but had a Sks for a while and had nee bother , is it the rod or the fisherman ??? I've seen harrison torrix p3 snap lifting into fish and yuki rods snap casting 3 oz overhead ??? All rods have snaps at time there so mass produced just sonik get a lot of press coz there's a few about

Think there are more century's etc about than soniks mate but only hear the odd story of them snapping etc... Usually due to fisherman error like you said. I've not seen a lot of the sonik rods used but have defo seen a few damaged or break. I don't think the carbon can be great across the batch as a whole. For every 5 good rods there seems to be one bad one that should have been weeded out when quality checked

Chinese mass produced to keep the price down , most are made over there now but that's the way of the world , cheaper and crapper haha , but ya might get a decent one . You still have to look after them , I see so many laid down , dropped on the pier wall and hoyed on rails with nee rest ... Treat them well and you'll get the best out if them

I tried one in me garden and even the weight of runner beans winding up the side snapped the tip in six places. Dare'nt use the butt too keep me little apple tree up.it would be in half in the morning.the moral of this story is sonik appear to be Chinese cr.a.p😩😩😲👎👎👎👎
