          Was going to ask if there was any word on the South pier. I read the repairs were approved by the county planning committee at the end of last month but at this rate they aren't going to get much done before the autumn and bad weather (we hope) arrives

            Alright Stew only thing ive herd is the contract was signed last week
            My guess is march next year its august next week mate wich doesn't leave
            much time till october to do any repair work

                    Yea it's an evil bottom but can chuck some nice fish out, heavy line and a rotton bottom is a must.

                        Even back in the day it was a rough ground mark but never thought as unfishable. That said it's probably changed since they stopped dumping the colliery waste on the Chems but in the late 1980s drawing a peg on the South pier was always preferred to a peg on the north pier for winter comps.

                        I'll always remember going on there for a junior match in about 1987, mid afternoon on a Saturday and Chris Stringer was fishing about the 30 mark and had three 5lb plus cod on the pier (which was more than us kids managed between us)
