  • Eyemouth Cannons

Following up on Regpudes post about the Cannons, does anyone know if the path down from the cliff top on to the Cannons skeers is still accessable or is it unsafe and you have to walk around the point from the beach.

    Cheers

Aye but can you get down the cliff from there - i was told the path was knackered so you need to wlak round the point from the beach. Nee idea if that is true like.

I don't think the path from the top down is there anymore mate

Have never used it but last time I was on the cannons I was looking for where it lands on the skeer as have looked at it from the top down previously but my head for heights isn't the best and it was damp on the day in question so didn't want to tackle it. Looked like the bottom half of the path was gone

On a dry day the route round from the beach isn't difficult and as Stores said in Reg's post you can fish between the two islands while you wait to get on

          Cheers mate, appreciate the advice.

Just started fishing up there (on the back of Stores book - great read) and just trying to get to grips with how to find the marks and that. Pretty sure I was fishing Whalt Point yesterday but couldn't work out how to get safely onto the rocks I wanted too as they looked a bit hairy to get there. Great to fish for cod in the summer though and not have to freeze your nads off.

Yer, 3 quid it is and worth every penny IMO, marks in front of you and car safe. You get the parking ticket from the campsite reception.

What I don't like is the 3 quid to park at ssp charged by the thieving b****s, why? because it's public land I'm told, if it isn't then statement withdrawn.

Probably was Whalt Point mate, there is a step over to get to the very end.

Funny thing is with step overs, at least I find, is that because if you don't get it right you are swimming they seem a lot more difficult than they are! Physiological thing, if it was a gap in the rocks you would spring across it no bother

Cheers marra, may see you on there shortly. I'll likely bottle the path down and walk around as well like
