My Dad (aka growler) had a nice one off Seaham North Pier a few years back.. Although only one ive seen caught up here.. Was caught in darkness, not sure if it has any bearing though.. Persistance is the key I reckon..

But you wouldn't use 4/0s with the intention of catching sole . It's the surprise , that's the buzz .I'll stick to size 4s for sole and keep 4/0 for cod . Nice to see you back StewartBig kev, fishing leg end

ive caught them on Tynemouth long sands during settled conditions, warm eveings on lugworm and Tynemouth peir fishing inside the haven on ragworm , people don't catch them as they do not target them , again small hooks and short hook trace try metal booms as they use to hammer them down on the Suffolk coast line using metal booms jim ps I had them around aug to sept
