  • Sole

I was gonna fish tonight but couldn't be bothered with the rain, so I've been making rigs and decided to make a sole rig

I've only ever seen one Sole off SSP, caught by Toonboy last summer; but was wondering if anyone else has had any of the pier

The weight goes on the fastlink, theres a short, 9" snood with a size 4 kamasan, and some split shot to hold it on the bottom (and there's another snood with a size 2 hook, higher up the rig, just to scratch for other fish). Might give it a go on the pier this weekend with a small mackerel bait (probably just get dabs on it, but it's got to be worth a try).

It's like all piers, if people put the time in targeting a certain species one will turn up.

Tiny hooks opens up loads of chances for mini species. If you're species hunting size 6 are a good option

                            sole

Sole have very small mouths. I use size 4 or 6 hooks. Caught couple on chesil beach 2 yrs ago. Up here we think size 1 is small but they are way too big for sole, so that, s why so few are caught here . 1 inch of black lug was the bait
