usually there 2 or 3 times a year.
Oban to Craignure ain't cheap though, 38 quid each way for the car, fiver each for adults... so a family of four and you're well over 100 quid
Lochaline to Fishnish, or Kilchoan straight into tobermory is stacks cheaper, only about 11 quid each way for the car from Lochaline and 2 or 3 quid for adults
Official Caledonian MacBrayne Hebridean & Clyde Ferries site
Lochaline is a great route, much quieter and you can have a fish off the pier while waiting for the ferry, but make sure you've plenty line on your reel, a 50 yard cast puts you in 300 foot of water! and there's some big fish there too, pollack conger doggies, spurs even skate are relatively easy to target from the shore there
the kilchoan route brings you straight into tob, 7 to 8 hours from newcastle. theres another weeny ferry ride to do as well at the corran, 5 minute crossing, costs a fiver for car and all passengers, runs all day every 15mins, from there drive straight down the ardnamurchan peninsula to Kilchoan and ferry over to tob
there used to be a hopscotch ticket for 50 quid ish, allowing you to onto mull via one of the routes and off via another
fantastic place, much better drive IMHO than oban, by the time you've waited for the bigger ferry at oban and driven across mull its just as quick and saves quite a few quid too
Tob gets quite busy in summer with all the balamory malarakey going on but the kids love it (well mine used to but they've grown out of it a bit)
send the kids on a balmory trail and take the trip round the distillery, lots of free sampling on the tour! or drop into tackle and books, they run charter fishing trips for 15 quid for 3 or 4 hours all inʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ.
Thought for the day:
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs
Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.
