hi all had a big surprise when fishing under the wear bridge today

started to wind in and had a VERY heavy load , thought ok i have weed or kelp on , fought it in and had to hand ball it up the wall , i had

    2 tesco bag fish
3 gripper leads and a mile of line
    3 tonne of kelp
    5 small crabs
and , and this is the surprise

a mackerel !!!! well when i say a mackerel it was well chewed from the crabs but it had a full spine so was whole

    Excellent, nice catch report

Had a weird one in Blyth harbour one night back in my late teens, same deal with a hellish heavy weight, the heart was racing, rod bent double and line singing in the wind under the strain. Slow and gentle until the beast was at the surface within the light of the lamps on the quays - 2 milk-crates tied together with rope! Dunno what that was about, but typically the line broke when I tried to lift it so never got a weigh-in of my possible record catch!

        Thought for the day:
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs

6yr olds shouldn't be let loose with dangerous fishing gear!!!!

Once I struck into what I thought was a fish at the Groyne (South Shields) only to wind in a floral dress which looked like a dead old lady! After untangling the dress I found a raft of tackle, including seven 6oz leads, loads of hooks, swivels, beads, lead links and shrimps (sxcared the s**t out of me like!)

I was fishing the Goodwin Sands 3 years ago when I caught a wooden leg. It was one hell of a struggle to get it in, this was because the rest of the table came with it.

BLACKRAT: I thought the river would have washed out the smell of urine !
A bad days fishing is better than a good day at work.
