Yes Sean, too often would be too much mate, every couple of months though would be ok I think. I like your idea of fishing with a partner too lol that would be much better and completely different to the annual comp. My only problem would be that no one from the north side would want me as a partner as I do all my fishing north of the Tyne so have no Idea of the marks south of the Tyne.

Some great ideas here, it would be nice to see it happen a few times each year.

    Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Ahh but you aint ever gonna learn about marks South of the Tyne unless you fish them Jim lol. Maybe we could draw up some dates and put them on here, have a few North and South and mix up between High and Low water comps?? Maybe have boundaries for each one??

How about all names put into two hats, draw one out from Each hat and thats who you fish with?

Funnily enough if you go back to the results for the last N v S comp you'll see that Paul did indeed suggest a measure and release match. But that was during the winter months. Flattie matches don't do anything for me either I'll be honest.

The original point is a good one and shouldn`t at this point be lost in detail,
that a friendly comp.every few months will keep more interest in the forum
as well as being a good chance to meet folk and enjoy our sport. For myself
I really enjoyed my NvS day out despite blanking and learned from my fellow anglers,as a newbie this sort of thing is invaluable for promoting sea angling.
We also have a responsability to conservation and catch and release must surely be the way forward.
