  • Roker pier?

Hi all when is Roker pier closing for repairs? I am planning on going this Friday for a session. Is there anymore word wether fishing will be banned on the pier? I am in a powered wheelchair and that pier is perfect, if I can't get on the pier I will fish Rat house corner instead.

No banning of fishing at all that was rubbish, I think the date is June 14th when it closes for repairs

      Roker pier

Thanx for the reply and that's a great relief about the ban on fishing. It's going to be bad enough this year when all the Mackie bashers from Sunderland pier all pile onto South Shields pier. More people drinking cider casting there gear every where and dropping all there crapp all over the pier Fishing God please help US.

Well Stewart 1971 that makes South Shields pier all the more busy when the Mackkie bashing charvers come there are like bloody Zombies they just keep on coming. I think there should be a restriction on how many the angler can take home, I saw a guy last year with one of those shopping carts the old folk use for shopping full of mackerel there must have been close to a hundred in this cart absolute madness.

I thought it was June 6th then closed for 6months weather permitting so probably be more like a year. I will have a look on sign next time I'm passing.

                  Roker pier

Hi all that picture looks like mayhem, I really don't want to fish on ssp this year but as I am in a wheelchair my fishing venues are already quite tight and I fish the 44 marks for plaice every summer and I don't want to miss out on the plaice action. It's going to be scary this year that is for certain.

Bit of a trek I suppose but you could always try the Black Middens at North Shields. Nice easy access and will be a lot quieter than the pier.

Mind you the way we are having these constant bloody easterlies so far this summer we could end up having next to no Plaice season at all

                        Roker pier

Hi Stewart 1971 yeah if these easterly keep up it will also really hamper the mackerel season as well. What is the ground like at the black midens? I was told years ago that it's really ruff for 100 yards plus so I have always avoided it but I will go where the plaice are.

Looks like there might be a space or two in the middle

Lads - I've said this before a few times, now that we are down a few piers its worth a shot for sure if your just after your macky qouta for the winter - try the beach
Fished my local last year just to see what it was like and there was plenty,I did not have to set foot on a pier. Canny chuck required from Horden that day but they are there just off the beach aswell as the pier.
