Am looking to buy a multi piece travel rod for my jollies in the summer...

    My options are:
    • Shakespeare Salt Travel Rod
    • Ron Thompson Travel Rod

    Both 6 piece, 11'6", 4-8oz...

Anyone heard anything about them? or have strong opinions about travel rods in general?
    Ooh a new vid!

Tony i doubt very much any travel rod will cast 8oz maybe 4 or 5 at a push so i would'nt expect to fish any heavy ground with one.My mate bought one recently,it looks ok as well and I'm 95% sure its
##Penn Surfblaster - Seatrek (Twin tip)
ALSO AVAILABLE IN SPECIAL PENN COMBO DEAL WITH with 1 x 18lb SLDS & 1 x 60lb Tuff Stuff FREE

12' 3 piece beach caster which comes with two tip sections.
    1 - Light 3 to 5oz
    2 - Heavy 4 to 6oz
With a packed length of just 52'' the Seatrek is just the job for the angler who wants a rod which is easy to transport yet will handle a variety of different situations.
Suitable for fixed spool or multiplier reels##
I'll ask him on Tuesday to confirm it,he used it recently over in Cumbria and said it was excellent but not for the heavy ground.

    Cheers Alan...

Cheers for that Alan...must admit I took the 8oz weight capability with a big pinch...looking to fish beaches or maybe a bit of mixed ground when I'm in South Wales again this summer...just wanted something with a bit of poke in case I hook into a larger specimen than the 2lb doggie that was my PB last summer
