How to hit a rod hard

Danny came over and joined us a few times when I was casting at Steyning (I suppose hopping on a cross channel ferry then bombing down the M2 / M25 / M23 is simple enough when Century are paying for it all). We got chatting to him about casting and he said it's a simple game - every time he casts he tries to break the rod (which again I suppose is easy enough when Century pay for all your rods )CLIP IT AND WHACK IT

Hello,
Whenever Danny is mentioned on a forum someone always comes up with the same things, something along the lines of "yeah well he's a big bloke" or "I could do that if I were his size", but posting a photo of a gorilla up is a new one on me.
For what it's worth he is a big bloke but he is technically a very, very good caster. I know that he devotes a lot of time to his casting and he analyses every aspect of it especially his reel tuning. To suggest that his success is purely down to his size is wrong.
He is also a good angler and he loves his carp, pike and catfish angling.
Above all else though he's a good friend and a very genuine bloke as many of his friends in England will agree.....especially those on the casting circuit.
We've been on holiday together a couple of times and had some great laughs although with Lew getting older it's been a little while since we've been away.
Here are a couple of photos of him away from the casting field and enjoying his angling and holidays.
Regards Ian

Completely agree Danny is a top lad, very approachable, happy to share information about reel tuning and technique and has quite a sense of humour. It was a pleasure to watch him cast in the flesh (if a bit daunting for a middling club caster like me to be following him onto the oche); if it was all about size every 17 stone knacker would be casting 300 yards - they can't, it's not, it's all about technique as well but what he does do is use his size to his advantage.
Anyway Phil, good threadCLIP IT AND WHACK IT
