  • Difference between Turbot and Brill?

    Having caught 2 what i believed were Turbot today i am just wondering if there is any distinctive difference between a Brill and a Turbot as I have been informed Brill are more rounded compared to the Turbots distinctive diamond shape...the 2 i caught today look different shapes

      We had this conversation yesterday and the best way to tell them apart is the feel of them. The turbot has scaly tubercles and is rough, the brill is smooth. Don't know for certain as I've never held a brill.
      People who live in glass houses have to answer the door.

        Just to make it even harder Brill/Turbot hybrids are not uncommon !

            Brill also have a frilly appearance to the front of the dorsal
