What exactly are they going to do to the pier as it stands it's a bit of a death trap a hand rail would be nice.

I've been doing a search for planning permission but drawn a blank.
Don't know if you actually need PP to repair something. Might be an idea to ask SAC for the plans as they should be able to access them you'd have thought
Told the missus I was going on a diet. I'd only eat what I caught

don't need planning permission to carry out repairs mate and neither for development that does not impact severely, this can be done under their permitted development rights.

Spot on Eddie. People moan like a bunch of old women that piers up and down the coast are allowed to fall into disrepair to the extent they get permanently closed to everyone as unsafe structures. Yet as soon as a pier gets shut whilst essential repairs are carried out so as to make the pier safe for years to come the same people go into meltdown as they are going to be inconvenienced for a few months.

I've got no problem having paid my £30 quid for this year and also will pay my £30 for next year knowing that the pier will be shut for a few months again over the summer. The fact we are getting access to the South Pier again is a bonus though I'm not sure how it will help for the rest of the summer comps which will be interesting to say the least...

I don't see the problem, I paid my subs, ok the noth peir s closing for a while in about 5-6 weeks, then we can fish the south pier, then when the north is fully finished we will be able to fish both piers at no extra cost to the members, how many fishing clubs do you know that have exclusive access to 2 piers ?

seen bottom of the south pier near the blocks has caved into the water. not safe at all, it happen over the winter, not many people know

so this means people will have to access through the dock, how yous gonna do it?

many year's ago, cambois pier was temporarily closed for work to be carried out,
this pier from the backside, into cambois hole, fished very well, (still doe's).....

                  it's still closed now.

and a believe, because of the way people treat it, blyth pier will be next,

maccy due in and the people in power announce inspections......!

What I can't understand is this is ment to happen very fast and yet been fighting for years to fish south pier but all off a sudden were allowed to. Not complaining as prefer south pier as long as the pots off the end are not there.
